Hello Everyone!
A few days late I know, but I thought today would be the perfect moment to blog about the 12th Doctor reveal.
Yes, I am letting out my inner geek!
I was 9 when Doctor Who first came back to our screens, and I sat watching the first episode with my family. I will never forget the terror I felt as I walked past window shop dummies after that first episode. Even so, I was most definitely hooked to the show.
The episode 9 (Christopher Eccleston) regenerated- I cried.
The episode 10 (David Tennant) regenerated- I cried.
This obviously means I shall cry when our beloved Matt Smith regenerates also.
As a person who does not like change, I probably shouldn't have got myself hooked on Doctor Who; I am still mourning the loss of 9.
Tonight I watched with anticipation as the big reveal began on BBC One. I was a little over excited to say the least when I noticed Carrie and Tom Fletcher in the audience. I also let out a little scream when I saw Bernard Cribbins was a guest- what a cutie.
The wait was finally over and I was perched on the edge of my seat, just waiting. And then it was announced. Peter Capaldi is the 12th Doctor! I couldn't believe it, of course it was him. I instantly recognised him from Torchwood: Children of Earth and the Doctor Who Episode, Fires of Pompeii. The people in charge of the cast certainly like to reuse their actors.
With all of that said, Peter Capaldi is a brilliant actor and I think it is excellent they are bringing back an older, (maybe more mature) doctor?
What I think is even better is that 12 is going to be much darker than 11 and 12; something I am extremley looking forward to as this means possibly revisiting some of 9- as he was also dark and mysterious.
I've got to say David Tennant has been my favourite Doctor so far. Not only because he's the one I grew up watching, but because he could be dark when he wanted to, but so funny, happy and entertaining as well. He was a bit of everything.
But, we cannot judge whether we will like Capaldi as the doctor or not until he has first performed. I want it to be Christmas already- I'm too excited. He's a teriffic actor so I'm sure he won't disappoint. Congratulations to him.
I would apologise for this extremely nerdy post, but I'm not even sorry! It was a part of my childhood I never quite grew out of.
